Search Queries
A name or place entered in a search box is sent directly to the outside company operating that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its results. Butler County Criminal History does not retain or record those search terms on its own systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
Email messages are kept as needed to prepare and send a response. They remain within our organization unless disclosure is required by law.
Data We Gather Automatically
Our systems automatically receive limited technical information when a visitor loads a page:

- Pages viewed and the time spent on them

No Criminal-Record Data on File
Butler County Criminal History does not maintain, assemble, or sell a database of personal criminal records. It provides general directions to the Butler County Sheriff, the criminal courts, the Pennsylvania State Police Central Repository, and the Pennsylvania State Police Megan’s Law Public Website. Pennsylvania dissemination of criminal history record information is governed by 18 Pa.C.S. § 9121; this private website is not an official dissemination channel. We are not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Visitor data is not compiled into a consumer report or a record about another person.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies power the search boxes. Information submitted through a box is governed by that provider’s privacy policy, retention rules, and sharing practices rather than this policy. Review those terms before running a search because we do not control them.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to the Butler County Sheriff, court portals, Pennsylvania agencies, legal aid resources, or commercial search services. Once a visitor leaves this domain, the destination’s policy governs. Read it before providing personal information.
Advertising companies may use their own systems to follow activity across websites and select targeted ads. That processing is outside our control.
